Accessible Housing in Hampton Roads

 
To Virginia Beach Mayors Committee for Persons with Disabilities members (and others who might be interested in accessible housing),
Attached to this e-mail you will see a listing of the accessible apartment/homes that hove been collected so far in the Hampton Roads area by our Housing Sub-Committee.
There is a "short" listing done in Microsoft Excel and a more detailed listing done in Microsoft Word (if you need the file done in a different format let me know).
We are still collecting listings and you will see from the web site listed below (
http://apartments.hamptonroads.com/) that we have just found one that could be a great source.

To search for apartment complex listed as accessible in Hampton Roads (by city) go to
http://apartments.hamptonroads.com/
Click on Search Apartments in the left side column section (FIND AN APARTMENT) of your computer screen.
By checking off  Handicap Access it brings up a large number of apartment complexes BUT these apartments still need to be confirmed by a letter or phone call.

The NAAC is a public service program of The National Apartment Association, The National Multi Housing Council, American Computer Software, The Fannie Mae Foundation and For Rent Magazine.

Low-interest loans (State of Virginia) for a wide variety of special equipment may be available. This includes loans for wheelchairs, motorized scooters, Braille equipment, hearing aids, low vision aids, communication systems, environmental control devices, building modifications for accessibility or telecommunication devices for the deaf.
