Subject: National Convention Reminder and March for Independence
Dear Fellow Federationists:
This is just a note to remind you to make your reservations for the upcoming
annual convention of the National Federation of the Blind in Atlanta,
Georgia. The convention will begin with preconvention activities and
seminars on Saturday, June 30 and will conclude at 5:00 P.M. on Friday, July
6. If you have not already made your reservations, there is still time! You
have until June 1 to reserve a room at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis Hotel.
To make reservations, call (888) 218-5399. Don't forget that you can also
pre-register for convention at http://nfb.org/legacy/convent/preregistration2007.php
and save on registration fees and banquet tickets. We are hoping to
have at least 150 people from Virginia at convention this year!! It will
take the hard work of all of us to make that happen!! Plan to attend and
find someone else who needs the experience of the Federation family.
This year, we are having our first ever "March For Independence" in which
thousands of blind people will participate in a 5-K (3-mile) walk through
the streets of Atlanta, demonstrating the ability of blind people to live
active, productive lives as we show the nation that together we, the voice
of the nation's blind, are changing what it means to be blind! The march
will culminate in all of us marching together into the opening convention
session on Tuesday morning, July 3. You won't want to miss this historic
event. If you have not yet registered, you may go to
www.marchforindependence.org and sign up for the march.
Please make an effort to attend the convention. The convention will help
strengthen our collective belief that together we can change the future for
all blind people.
Sincerely yours,
Fred Schroeder, President
National Federation of the Blind of Virginia
