Objective:  Increase understanding of requirements and expectations between first responders and citizens with disabilities and special needs. Citizens and responders in each jurisdiction will be able to discuss their requirements and expectations and begin developing solutions to ensure preparedness during emergencies.

Target Audience:  Citizens with medical, communication, mobility or behavioral challenges; medical & mental health providers, law enforcement, fire/EMS, emergency planners and managers, public health staff, public relations/media specialists, volunteer organizations and other providers.

This activity has been approved for 7.0 hours of Career Development/Elective Partial In-Service Credit by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services & 7.0 hours of Category 2 Continuing Education Units by the Virginia Department of Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services.
