Zoo Snooze

Zoo Snooze at the Virginia Zoo for Students who are Blind and Visually Impaired
In partnership with the Virginia Zoo and the Norfolk Public Schools

This special Zoo Snooze is being held for students from around Virginia who are blind and visually impaired, grades 3 through 12

Students will meet some of the education animals up close and actually touch a chinchilla, snake, gecko or even a kinkajou, feed the breakfast to the barnyard animals and go “behind the scenes” with the elephants and rhinos and their zoo keepers! Students will also participate in other activities specially designed and coordinated by Theresa Fanney, Education Director, Virginia Zoo and Gail Henrich, Teacher for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Norfolk Public Schools.

In addition to meeting the animals, students will meet and connect with other blind and visually impaired students from around the area, put their mobility skills to work while taking a flashlight tour of the zoo to find out what the animals are up to, and practice their independent living skills as we “camp out” in the classroom.

When: Saturday, April 21, 2007 5:30 p.m. through Sunday morning, April 22, 10:00 a.m.
Where: The Virginia Zoo, Norfolk, VA
Cost: $30 * (includes a “people breakfast”)
